Obstetric Care with Dr Kirsten Gaerty

Pregnancy and birth are wonderful milestones but can also be a stressful time for women with complicated pregnancies or pre-existing health problems.  All Women is excited to be able to deliver personalised obstetric care to those with complicated pregnancies and to those who seek the extra reassurance of their own private obstetrician during this pivotal life journey.

On the basis of her extensive experience in complex Obstetrics, Dr Kirsten Gaerty is delighted to be able to offer highly qualified support throughout a normal pregnancy or expert medical consultation to those experiencing a complicated pregnancy. 

In her capacity as partner in All Women and obstetrician at Hastings Hospital Dr Gaerty can enable a seamless and timely transition to full hospital facilities when required during any phase of your pregnancy and birth experience.

Dr Gaerty has advanced qualifications and experience in both Ultrasound and Maternal-fetal medicine which are key aspects to advanced Obstetric practice. This expertise within Hawkes Bay is unique and highly sought after. In addition to this, Dr Gaerty is actively engaged in numerous research and quality improvement projects which ensure her knowledge is consistently at the very forefront of the latest Obstetric practice. 

Kirsten also has 3 beautiful children of her own and is passionate about ensuring her patients have the best possible care, which she can offer from the perspective of both highly qualified professional and expectant Mum.


She looks forward to meeting patients to address concerns such as:

  • Pre-conception advice.

  • Specialist medical support throughout normal pregnancy

  • Pre-existing conditions which may impact upon you or your baby’s health.

  • Complications during previous pregnancy or delivery.

  • Issues that are new within your current pregnancy.

  • Recommended options for delivery.

  • Abnormal scan results

  • Genetic screening

  • Previous miscarriage or still-birth


Kirsten has a warm and collegial relationship with local midwives and her services are offered in partnership with your chosen LMC midwife.  They will provide the primary maternity care with Dr Gaerty readily available to provide timely, specialist support when and as needed.  Kirsten can also attend your labour and delivery if required but this is dependent on prior bookings.

Private obstetric care is offered on the basis of the following 2 options:

 

Shared Care Package:

  • This entails a scheduled series of ante-natal appointments alternating with your midwife

  • There is a minimum number of 6 appointments to ensure the best possible care throughout your pregnancy.

  • There is flexibility within this package for extra appointments if required for any reason.

  • This package comes with the option of Dr Gaerty being present for labour and delivery.

  • Please also note that the number of patients Dr Gaerty can see on this basis is limited and as such she encourages you to book early if you want this model of care

 

Pregnancy Consult:

  • Consultations at your or your LMCs request for a particular issue which can be conducted on a ‘one-off’ basis.

  • Extra appointments on an as needed basis are available if required.

  • Attendance at delivery is a possibility if there have been 2 or more appointments ( subject to availability)

Obstetric Care Fees:

  • Will be determined to some extent on a case by case basis.

  • The Shared Care Package (consultations only) will attract a fee approximately $1,100

  • Please note this does not include attending labour and delivery which will be charged at $2,500 in addition to any other fees already paid.
    Or a planned caesarean section will be charged at $2,500 in addition to any other fees paid

  • Pregnancy consultations (on an as needed basis) will be approximately $230 for a first appointment and $180 for follow ups  which is the same as the ‘per appointment’ fee within the Shared Care Package.
